Central Point, Oregon – The Crater Rock Museum was selected as a 2021 Oregon Museum Grant recipient through the Oregon Heritage Program of the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department. The grant is earmarked towards heritage stewardship and collections management, and the funds will be used to ensure safe, archival care and storage of the museum’s organic specimens and Indigenous artifacts.
In addition, the Museum was the recipient of a donation of upgraded, archival display cases from the Seattle Art Museum, which will be installed later this summer.
The Crater Rock Museum is in its 69th year of operation through the Roxy Ann Gem and Mineral Society. The mission of ROXY ANN GEM AND MINERAL SOCIETY, INC., dba CRATER ROCK MUSEUM, is to educate and enlighten people of all ages through the study of earth sciences, geology, lapidary, mineralogy, archaeology, natural history, and paleontology by conducting tours, teaching classes, and maintaining museum displays.
